Career & Highlights

Megan has a broad commercial practice across a wide range of industries including construction; marine; mining; energy & natural resources; government & public agencies; insurance; and cannabis. It includes commercial, banking, contractual and construction litigation; asset purchase agreements; franchise agreements; long term disability; insurance defence; maritime law; shareholder disputes; oppression applications; and regulatory and administrative applications and charges.  She has appeared at all levels of court including the General Division of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, and submissions to the Supreme Court of Canada.

Megan has served as the Chairperson of the Mineral Rights Adjudication Board since 2019 and was President of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador from August 2020 to November 2022. Megan served on the Board of Directors of Benson Buffett from 2021 – 2023. In 2022, she was recognized as a Leading Lawyer to Watch in the area of Corporate-Commercial Litigation by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.  Megan also serves as Benson Buffett’s young lawyer representative for Meritas, a premier global alliance of independent law firms.

Originally from Happy Valley Goose Bay, NL, Megan was admitted to the Newfoundland and Labrador bar in 2015 following her graduation from the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law in 2014. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Memorial University.
