Alternate Dispute Resolution
Alternative Dispute Resolution refers to processes which operate outside the traditional judicial process to solve legal disputes. Processes, such as mediation, are now required by some courts such as the Unified Family Court in Newfoundland and Labrador. Arbitration refers to the binding decision of a independent third party to resolve a legal dispute and normally takes the form of a quasi-judicial process.
